Sweltering Heat Grips Multiple Regions, Maximum Temperatures Soar To 40-42°C In Several Areas

New Delhi, 5 April 2024: The maximum temperatures are likely to rise gradually by 2-3°C over many parts of the country during April 4 to 10, informed the India Meteorological Department on Friday.

During this time , hot and humid weather is likely to prevail over isolated pockets of Maharashtra and Karnataka Coast, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh during some days of the week.

On Friday, the maximum temperature forecast is 38, highest till April 11. While, Telangana is experiencing 41°C on Friday.

On Wednesday, numerous areas in central India and certain regions in the south experienced maximum temperatures ranging from 40 to 42°C.

According to IMD’s assessment, maximum temperatures are peaking between 40-42°C across these areas, indicating a severe heatwave gripping the region. Furthermore, the report highlights departures from normal temperatures, with some areas experiencing deviations as high as 3-4°C. This is particularly concerning in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Telangana, where temperatures are significantly exceeding the seasonal average.

Additionally, the IMD also informed that there is low probability of heat wave over isolated pockets of Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar during some days of the week.

The IMD also said that rainfall activity is likely to be below normal over all the regions of India.
