Gurugram, 25 Jan 2024: A commendable move has been taken by DC Nishant Kumar Yadav. He established 12 rain shelters across Gurugram in the municipal areas to provide refuge for the homeless and vulnerable individuals arriving from outside the district. DC Yadav, urging the public’s cooperation, emphasized that these shelters are open to those sleeping outdoors in the cold without any documentation requirements. Each rain shelter is manned by duty officers at the IAS and HCS levels, ensuring the availability of essential amenities to guarantee the well-being of those seeking refuge. DC Yadav highlighted the meticulous arrangements at each shelter, including security personnel, clean bedding, adequate lighting, toilet facilities, and access to drinking water. He revealed that rain shelters include the Gurugram Nagar Nigam wards 10 (Railway Station), 18 (Sohna Chowk), 17 (Bhim Nagar), 19 (Rajiv Chowk), 32 (Kanhai), 13 (Kadipur), and 25 (Darbaripur). Additionally, rain shelters have been established in Nagar Nigam Manesar, Nagar Palika Farukhnagar, and Nagar Parishad areas to ensure comprehensive coverage for those in need. DC Yadav, adhering to previous directives, assigned duty officers to specific locations to oversee the efficient operation of rain shelters. The joint efforts of these officers aim to facilitate a smooth stay for the individuals seeking refuge, with special attention to their comfort and well-being during the night. He called on citizens to report instances of people sleeping outdoors in the cold, encouraging them to share information about the available rain shelters. This initiative underscores the commitment of the Gurugram administration to ensuring that no one faces the harsh winter without a warm place to stay.
