Vivek Ramaswamy urges economic Independence from China, citing dependency

Washington , November 9, 2023:  Vivek Ramaswamy, a prominent Indian-American Republican presidential candidate and a 38-year-old multimillionaire biotech entrepreneur, has voiced a bold perspective on the relationship between the United States and China. During the Republican Party’s third presidential debate in Miami, Florida, he emphasized that the US cannot afford to “get tough” with China due to its dependency on the nation for modern living standards. Instead, Ramaswamy urged Washington to declare economic independence from Beijing.

The debate featured notable participants, including Indian-American presidential candidate Nikki Haley, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott. However, former US President Donald Trump, a frontrunner in the presidential race, did not partake in the event.

Ramaswamy’s call for economic independence from China raises crucial questions about the US-China relationship, shedding light on the delicate balance between interdependence and national sovereignty.
