Madhya Pradesh: CM Mohan Yadav Set to Join Decades-Old Tradition of Rangpanchami Ger in Indore Tomorrow

Indore, 29 March 2024– The Rang Panchami festival, marking the fifth day after Holi, will witness the long-standing tradition of Rangpanchami Ger in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district tomorrow morning, as announced by the district collector. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is slated to participate in this event, which involves the joyful exchange of colors and gulal among people.

The Rangpanchami Ger, a celebration deeply rooted in local culture, draws large crowds to Rajwada and its surrounding areas, where revelers enthusiastically drench each other in vibrant hues. Vehicles adorned with colors traverse the city streets, adding to the festive atmosphere.

In anticipation of the event, the district administration has diligently undertaken preparations and security measures. District Collector Ashish Singh expressed, “Preparations are underway to commemorate the 75-year-old tradition of Rangpanchami Ger, with aspirations to secure UNESCO heritage status. We aim to host a UNESCO team in Indore next year.”

Stringent security measures have been put in place, including the installation of CCTV cameras and the deployment of fire brigade and medical personnel. Additionally, arrangements have been made to accommodate spectators along the Ger route, with 120 households securing spots via a dedicated app. Collector Singh emphasized that any disruption during the Ger would be met with strict action, with individuals found carrying weapons to be booked under the National Security Act (NSA).

Highlighting the significance of the event, Collector Singh confirmed Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s participation and assured that all necessary arrangements had been made.
