Services clinch Gold in Men’s Football at 37th National Games

Panaji, November 8, 2023 – Services emerged victorious in the Men’s Football final at the 37th National Games, defeating Manipur in a thrilling match at Nehru Stadium in Panaji.

The teams were deadlocked at 1-1 at halftime, with P Christopher Kamei scoring for Services in the 13th minute and Phijam Sanathoi Meetei equalizing for Manipur just before the break.

In the second half, Services took the lead when Soibam Abhinash Singh scored an own goal in the 62nd minute. Manipur’s hopes of a comeback were dashed when Rahul Ramakrishnan extended Services’ lead in added time.

The third-place finish went to Kerala, who beat Punjab 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a goalless regulation time.
