Metro Hospital hosts last meeting of the year of Confederation of RWAs, organised session on Cancer awareness

Faridabad, December 31, 2023– In a year-end review of issues that remain pending for resolution for the residents of Faridabad, Confederation of RWAs of Faridabad organised the last meeting of all the Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) on the last day of the year 2023. The meeting was organised at the auditorium of Metro Cancer Hospital sector 16.
The program started with an insightful and informative session by Dr. Sumant Gupta Senior Consultant & Head, Medical Oncology, Hematology, BMT Director Metro Cancer Institute Faridabad, educating the gathering about different types of cancers, treatment, reasons and precautions against the deadly disease. During the session, by way of a presentation he informed that how many types of cancers are more commonly found in Males as well as in Females. He also explained in detail the precautions to be taken for safeguard against the disease. He said that while the habits like chewing of tobacco and smoking are the major cause of Cancer, smoking and drinking alcohol are advised to be totally discontinued. Replying to a question he said that while the advice is not to consume alcohol but if someone is addicted to it or have some reasons to drink, it should be very minimum quantity maximum twice a month. He said that annual or once in two years would be good for any male more than 50 years to get required tests done for cancer while for women the tests should be done after attaining the age of 40 years.


Replying to queries of the gathering, Dr. Shivam said that while heating of food in Microwave in plastic utensils contribute to the risk of cancer, using of tin mixed aluminum foils used to pack hot food by food delivery companies also is injurious to health. He also said that using Iron or aluminum utensils for heating, boiling and cooking of food are the safest one. However, on the question of polluted water, he said that the consumption of polluted water certainly adds to the risk of getting cancer. He advocated the use of RO system for drinking water.
Chairman Confederation of Residents Welfare Associations Advocate N.K. Garg addressed the gathering and underlined the points that the confederation has been raising before different government agencies for the benefit of residents of Faridabad. While thanking the management of Metro Hospital for organizing the informative session for the members of RWAs, Garg informed that the hospital is very positive on offering discounted medical facilities to the members of RWAs.


Regarding the issues of RWAs and the citizens, Garg said that while the confederation has been raising issue of timely payment of park maintenance allowance to RWAs well in time, the administration should realised that the parks maintained by the RWAs are in far better shape in comparison to the one maintained by the administration itself. He raised the issues like construction of builder floor with silt, state of cleanliness all around the city, non-functioning of MCF-311 application, risk of dog bite due to roaming stray dogs in every nook and corner of the city, choked sewer problem in every sector of the city, poor management of traffic on Neelam Flyover and unchecked opening of meat shops all around the city. He also talked in detail about the need to have an underpass at Good Year crossing to allow comfortable movement of traffic for the residents of sectors 6,7,8,9,10 and 3. He said that while MLA Narendra Gupta talks about raising the issue in assembly twice, why the government has not approved the project.
Subodh Nagpal, General Secretary RWA Sector 29 and an active social worker, highlighted the charging of ‘advance security deposit (ADC)” in electricity bills by DHBVN without having any laid out charging pattern. He said that while he enquired many times from the department, there are no rules specified regarding the rate on which it is to be charged. On this issue NK Garg also highlighted that the issue of generation of electricity bill on monthly basis has been raised several times, but the government is adamant on raising bill on bi-monthly basis leading to extra cost on residents. He said that he would be raising the issue in the next meeting of the grievance committee where CM would also be present. Issues like non transfer policy of security deposit on temporary connection to the permanent connection in case of construction of new property was raised by Gopal Singh. Jagdish Chauhan, president RWA 21C talked about illegal rampant opening of OYO hotels in residential sectors. He said he has filed RTI with HUDA as well as MCF to find out the authority, but both of them denied of being the right body. In reply NK Garg assured to raise the issue in the meeting of grievance committee.
After discussion on several issues concerning the residents, the meeting ended with vote of thanks by A.S. Gulati, Secretary General of the confederation.
