The Impressive TimesPeddapalli (Telangana), April 23, 2024 : An under-construction bridge collapsed at Odedu, Muttaram Mandal, in this district on Monday midnight. According to the police, the bridge, aimed at reducing the distance between Odedu in Peddapalli district and Garmillapalli in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, spanning across the Maneru stream, commenced construction in 2016. However, due to changing contractors and funding shortages, construction work was consistently delayed. Consequently, locals resorted to utilizing a temporary path in the interim. The timing of the collapse, occurring during the night, potentially averted greater loss of life. Upon receiving local reports on Tuesday morning, officials promptly visited the site and assessed the situation. Allegations of poor construction quality surfaced, with delays attributed to collapsing gutters installed between two pillars.
