Srinagar, March 31, 2024– In a crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district apprehended three individuals and seized contraband substances from their possession.According to authorities, at a checkpoint established in Khanpora Baramulla, two individuals identified as Azad Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Naidkhai, and Aqib Ahmad Gojree of Bagh-e-Islam, were intercepted.
Upon search, police discovered 140 grams of contraband Charas-like substances in their possession. Both suspects were promptly arrested and taken into custody at the Baramulla Police Station for further investigation.
Similarly, a police team stationed at a checkpoint in Bimyar Boniyar stopped a motorcyclist for inspection, leading to the discovery of 40 grams of contraband Charas-like substances in his possession. The individual, identified as Mudasir Rashid Wani from Gantamulla, was arrested, and his motorcycle was seized on the spot.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at the Baramulla and Boniyar police stations, with investigations underway. Police have urged the public to report any instances of drug peddling, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in combating this menace.
The swift action by law enforcement underscores the ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region, reaffirming the commitment to maintaining law and order in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
