National Commission for Backward Classes Chairman praised Chhattisgarh’s Prayas Residential School and UPSC coaching initiatives

Top state officials, including Chief Secretary and DGP, attended National Commission for Backward Classes Review meeting

Raipur 29 June 2024 : National Commission for Backward Classes Chairman Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir praised the Prayas Residential School and UPSC coaching programme run by the Chhattisgarh Government. A meeting was held today at Naveen Vishram Grih in Nava Raipur, chaired by Shri Ahir, with top officials from various departments, including Chief Secretary Shri Amitabh Jain and Director General of Police Shri Ashok Juneja.

Shri Ahir gathered detailed information on the implementation of state government schemes for backward classes in Chhattisgarh and commended the efforts. He stressed the need for proper implementation of both state and central government schemes and programmes for backward classes. People of backward classes should receive benefits under reservation in private institutions as well as government institutions, he stated.

Praising the Commission for Backward Classes established in the state, Shri Ahir noted that beneficiaries will be able to systematically access information about other income sources.

While reviewing the number of backward classes listed in Chhattisgarh, Shri Ahir pointed out that out of 95 backward castes listed in the state, 67 castes are included in the central list. He recommended that a proposal be sent to the National Commission for Backward Classes to include other castes of the state in the central list.

The meeting was attended by National Commission for Backward Classes Secretary Shri Ashish Upadhyay, Advisor Shri Rajesh Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Manoj Pingua, Secretary General Administration Shri Anbalagan P., Secretary Skill Development Dr. S Bharathi Dasan, Commissioner Medical Education Shri Janak Pathak, Director Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Department Shri Narendra Dugga, Director Social Welfare Smt. Roktima Yadav, and other senior departmental officials.
