Raipur, 05, January, 2024 : IAS P. Dayanand, the 2006 batch IAS officer currently serving as Secretary to the CM, took the helm as the 12th Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Company on Friday. On this, P. Dayanand expressed gratitude to CM Vishnu Deo Sai for the opportunity to serve the state in the field of energy, mineral resources, public relations, aviation, and commerce and industry. As the new leader, Chairman P. Dayanand conducted a Marathon meeting with the high-ranking officials of the power company. The meeting delved into detailed discussions on the current state of electricity production, distribution, and transmission in the region. Dayanand emphasized the need for comprehensive planning to meet the future energy requirements of the state, particularly highlighting proposals related to solar energy and hydroelectric power. Along with this, he also conducted a separate meetings with top executives from the generation, transmission, and distribution divisions at the headquarters of Chhattisgarh State Power Company. Special Secretary of Energy, Sunil Kumar Jain, graced the occasion with his presence. The three-hour-long discussions saw valuable insights shared by the directors of each company, providing updates on achievements and the overall structure. Manoj Khare, Director of Distribution and Transmission Company, reported that uninterrupted power supply is currently being provided to 62 lakh consumers in the state, meeting the maximum demand of 6157 megawatts without any hindrance. The financial position of the distribution company has significantly improved. On the generation front, S.K. Katiyar, Director of Generation Company, revealed that the total capacity of power generation in the state is 2978.7 megawatts. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Power Plant and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Power Plant in Marwa are performing exceptionally well, contributing to cost-effective electricity production. Dayanand also inquired about new recruitments in the power company and emphasized the need for further improvement in the energy sector.
Briefing about P. Dayanand, a native of Sasaram, Bihar, holds a degree from Allahabad University. His extensive service as a successful collector in various districts, including Sukma, Dantewada, Ambikapur, Kavardha, Korba and Bilaspur has earned him recognition for significant contributions, especially in housing and education for tribal communities. After Collector Bilaspur, he worked as Managing Director of Comprehensive Education and also Director of AYUSH Department for several months. As the newly appointed chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Company, P. Dayanand envisions making the state a national leader in energy development, aligning with the policies of the state government.
