National Conference on “Mission 2036: A Roadmap for 7 to 70 Medals” Held at Sports University of Haryana, Rai

Rai, Haryana, 26 September 2024: The Sports University of Haryana, Rai, is organising a prestigious National Conference on the theme “Mission 2036: A Roadmap for 7 to 70 Medals,” bringing together eminent personalities from the fields of sports, academics, administration, and sports journalism. The conference is aimed to chart out a strategic pathway for India to achieve an extraordinary increase in its Olympic medal tally by 2036. The University, which commenced its symbolic academic session in 2023-24 with just 65 students, has seen an overwhelming response in the current academic session, with over 450 athletes enrolling in various programs. Among them, 14 are international athletes, 221 are national-level athletes, and the remaining are accomplished sportspersons at the state and district levels. In line with its mission to foster world-class sporting talent, the University has introduced a total of 18 courses, including undergraduate, postgraduate, and PG diploma programs. The conference will be graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Sh. Bandaru Dattatreya. He is eager to contribute to elevate India’s performance on the global sporting stage.

The Olympic champion Sh. Neeraj Chopra, who is visiting India for the first time since his remarkable performance at the Paris Olympic Games, has expressed his excitement and pride in visiting the Sports University of Haryana, recognizing it as a crucial hub for nurturing future champions. The conference will also feature inspiring talks by other sports luminaries, including Sh. Ravi Dahiya, Olympic silver medallist, and Ms. Sarita Mor, Arjuna Awardee and World Championship medallist. Eminent speakers from various fields, including sports science, coaching, sports administration, and journalism will also be a part in thought-provoking sessions designed to focus on the challenges and opportunities in creating a robust sporting ecosystem in India. The National Conference is planned to extract out the most significant ideas, dream of transforming India’s Olympic ambitions. The collective insights and recommendations from the event will contribute to the strategic roadmap as India sets its sights on achieving an unprecedented 70 medals at the Olympics by 2036.
