New Delhi, March 13, 2024– In a significant development, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the new office buildings for three multi-state cooperative societies in New Delhi today. The event marked the establishment of modern facilities for Bharatiya Beej Sahakari Samiti Limited (BBSSL), National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL), and National Cooperative Export Limited (NCEL).
Joined by Union Minister of State for Cooperation, Shri B.L. Verma, and Dr. Ashish Kumar Bhutani, Secretary, Ministry of Cooperation, along with other dignitaries including the Chairpersons and Managing Directors of NCEL, NCOL, and BBSSL, Shri Amit Shah underscored the government’s commitment to fostering cooperative initiatives for agricultural advancement.
Addressing the audience, Shri Shah emphasized the transformative vision of “Sahakar se Samriddhi” spearheaded by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He outlined the pivotal role of the newly established cooperative societies in addressing key challenges faced by the agricultural sector, including land degradation and the promotion of organic farming.
The cooperative societies are set to play a crucial role in seed conservation and enhancement, as well as facilitating agricultural exports, thereby contributing to India’s global agricultural market share. Shri Shah outlined ambitious targets to significantly boost organic exports and enhance seed conservation efforts, aligning with the government’s broader agenda of agricultural prosperity.
Acknowledging the substantial increase in the adoption of organic farming practices among Indian farmers, Shri Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding support infrastructure, including soil and product testing facilities, to further empower organic farmers.
In his closing remarks, Shri Shah expressed confidence in the ability of these cooperative societies to bridge existing gaps in the agricultural sector and propel India towards greater agricultural prosperity and global competitiveness.
The inauguration ceremony marked a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to harness the potential of cooperative initiatives for the advancement of Indian agriculture.
