SATVA
The art work of celebrated artist Aashima Mehrotra will be displayed at Civil Services Officers’ Institute in the exhibition titled ‘SATVA’ along with her co-artist M. Sarada. ‘Satva’ stands for Prakriti or the eternal flow of existence continually getting manifested on this planet earth…..
Aashima and Sarada’s magical brush capture the diverse colors of existence in the multitude of space, time and rhythm of life.
Cosmic in spread yet earthy in their pitch, their paintings in this satva, try to bring out the soulful music of prakriti through the heart touching shades of colors.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Adil Hussain (celebrated Indian actor) with Guests of Honour Shri Suman Kumar Singh who is an Artist and Writer, Lalit Kala Akademi and Shri Ravindra Tripathi, Writer and Art Critic , on 24th December ’23 at 4 pm. Exhibition will go on from 24th December – 5th Jan’24.
ARTIST PROFILE
Aashima Mehrotra is a visual artist and a civil servant based in Delhi. She had intense interest for art since her childhood. She was always inspired by people, nature & travel and to hone her skills. She also studied the works of celebrated artists especially Nandlal Bose, Amrita Shergil, Claude Monet, Picasso and Vincent Van Gogh. Though largely self taught her painting skills matured under the legendary painter Veer Munshi and Banshidhar Pratihary from Shanti Niketan. Her job in Railways and Tourism helped her to get inspired from diversity of Indian towns and various art forms.
All her works are reflection of her experiences and her personality. Today she is a visual artist with her own visual language and ‘ISM’. Her first solo exhibition was held in one of the most prestigious gallery of South-Asia – Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai. Her work has also been displayed in National level exhibitions of AIFACS, GMR, Lalit Kala Akademi and many others. She has also done more than 15 group exhibitions. She was selected at 4th place in “Art United – Together we stand” Art competition organized by New York Art Competition in collaboration with Agora Gallery, Japan Society and New York Federation of Arts in and 6th place in category Impressionism-Human by American Art Awards. She has participated in Plein Air Russian Atlantis at St. Petersberg and ICCR,Beijing. Recently her three paintings were showcased by ICCR as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav .and was awarded ICAG Golden Brush Award 2023 and Gold Medal by 19th National Exhibition of Indian Royal Academy of Art,2023. She is the part of Art Convergence group- Kalaakalpam.
Although impressionist and post impressionist styles have greatly influenced her work, still she is not shy of experimenting with abstract styles and mixed media that encompasses vivid imagination originally and contrast elements of nature and beautiful memories of life.
She has a studio in Lalit Kala, Garhi and her paintings are in art collection of art connoisseurs like Pheroza Godrej, Deepika Jindal, US Embassy, NGO Jhep, Sr. Advocates, Dr. Annirudh Seth, Hector Capitals Partner, Singapore, Ambassador of Malaysian Embassy, India City Walks amongst others.
Sarada is a Visual Artist by passion and a legal expert by profession. She was keen student of fine arts and she got recognition in art competitions like Sahitya Kala Academy while in school. She was inspired at an early age by the varied expressions and life circumstances of people. She also drew her inspiration by beauty of nature and by studying the works of celebrated artists who have depicted situations of people in far away towns and traditional art forms.
She started making paintings in varied mediums and work by instinct most of the time. Therefore, all her works are reflection of her experiences and her personality. She is not shy of experimenting with abstract styles and mixed media. Today she wants to be a dedicated visual artist exhibiting her work in exhibitions at home and abroad.
Her paintings are being showcased under Rangvidha title (along with a co-artist) on Social Media i.e. facebook, twitter and instagram. She has showcased her paintings in India Art festival 2019, Lalit Kala Akademi Garhi, 2021 and has also received merit certificate by Sahitya Kala Academy and Nandlal Bose National Painting Competition.
