Srinagar, March 3, 2024- In a ceremony filled with enthusiasm and sportsmanship, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, inaugurated the 23rd All India Police Water Sports Championship in Srinagar on Sunday. The weeklong event, featuring Men’s and Women’s categories, is taking place at Dal Lake and the back lawns of SKICC Srinagar, with robust security measures in place.
Approximately 500 players, 60 technical officials, and team managers, organized into 30 teams (20 Men’s teams and 10 Women’s teams), are set to compete in Canoeing, Kayaking, and Rowing disciplines to showcase their prowess in this prestigious championship.
Lt Governor Manoj Sinha extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir Police and conveyed his best wishes to all the participants, organizers, and sports enthusiasts for a successful and memorable championship. Recognizing the J&K Police’s significant role as both a law enforcement agency and a host, he applauded their track record of organizing 17 All India Police Championships over the last two decades.
In his address, the Lt Governor highlighted the values instilled through sports, particularly water sports, emphasizing the principles of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. He drew parallels between these qualities and the ethos upheld by law enforcement agencies in their commitment to safeguarding communities.
Expressing confidence in the participants’ positive experience, Lt Governor Sinha anticipated that they would relish the warm hospitality and scenic beauty of Jammu and Kashmir, transforming into ambassadors for the Union Territory.
The occasion also provided an opportunity for Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to pay homage to the courageous personnel of the Police and security forces for their selfless service to the nation. This championship not only promotes sportsmanship but also serves as a platform to honor the dedication and sacrifices made by those in uniform.
