New Delhi, February 22, 2024– In a joint effort to enhance public service and safety, the IGI Airport Police, in partnership with IndiGo Airlines, has introduced a groundbreaking two-day soft skill training program titled “Always Caring” for police personnel stationed at the airport. This initiative comes as part of the ongoing celebrations of Delhi Police Week.
The primary objective of the training program is to bolster the interpersonal skills and client service capabilities of participating officers. Approximately 75 upper subordinates underwent comprehensive training covering a spectrum of essential aspects including effective communication, conflict resolution, empathy, and best practices in customer service.
Airports function as pivotal gateways where individuals from diverse backgrounds converge, each with their unique needs and expectations. In such dynamic environments, the responsibilities of police personnel transcend conventional law enforcement roles to encompass assistance provision, safety assurance, and fostering positive interactions with the public.
Soft skills, deemed crucial for effective communication, collaboration, and interaction, play a pivotal role in determining the quality of public engagements. While technical proficiency remains indispensable, it is the soft skills that often define the caliber of interactions and the overall public experience.
At airports, police personnel encounter a myriad of individuals ranging from travelers to airport staff and airline crew. Each interaction represents an opportunity not only to enforce security measures but also to provide guidance, assistance, and instill confidence and assurance in the public.
Moreover, in today’s globalized landscape characterized by cultural diversity, sensitivity to cultural disparities and adept cross-cultural communication are imperative. Soft skill training equips police personnel with the requisite tools and mindset to interact respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, thereby fostering inclusivity and mutual understanding.
Furthermore, soft skills are instrumental in tackling emerging challenges such as cybercrime, human trafficking, and terrorism. Effective communication and collaboration among law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders within the airport ecosystem are indispensable for identifying and mitigating these threats.
This collaborative endeavor between the IGI Airport Police and IndiGo Airlines underscores their shared commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of passengers and staff at the airport. By empowering police personnel with essential soft skills, both organizations aim to enhance the overall passenger experience and cultivate a culture of care and excellence within the airport community.
Looking ahead, the IGI Airport Police intends to expand the “Always Caring” program to encompass over 400 police personnel in the near future. This initiative underscores the commitment of the IGI Airport Police to continuous improvement and professional development, ensuring that all officers are well-equipped to serve the public with dedication and compassion.
The success of the “Always Caring” soft skill training program exemplifies the positive outcomes achievable through collaboration and shared objectives. The IGI Airport Police extends its gratitude to the Training department of IndiGo Airlines for their invaluable support and partnership in making this initiative a success.
By refining their interpersonal skills, our officers can better serve the public, enhance security, and contribute to creating a welcoming and secure environment for all travelers. Through this training program, we reaffirm our commitment to equipping our officers with the necessary tools and capabilities to excel in their roles and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and service.
