Delhi, January 21, 2024- In a remarkable achievement, a team of 25 talented girl students from St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, hailing from the Sepahijala district in Tripura, has secured a place in the prestigious National School Band Competition for Republic Day Celebrations 2024. The all-girls brass band, aged between 11 to 16 and from classes 6-8, has already arrived in the National Capital to showcase their musical prowess at the National Stadium on January 21st and 22nd, 2024.
The journey to the national stage began with the zonal competition held in Bhubaneswar on December 22nd. Competing against various states from the eastern region, including Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal, the Girl’s Brass Band of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School emerged victorious, securing the first position.
Kalipada Chakma, the State Education Officer and the coordinating officer of the competition, expressed pride in the accomplishments of the St. Xavier’s team. He highlighted their exceptional performance in the zonal competition, where they surpassed competitors from both small and large states.
The girls are now geared up to represent Tripura in the national arena at the National Stadium in Delhi. The competition, scheduled on the eve of Republic Day, is set to witness the finest school bands from across the country showcasing their musical talents.
This achievement not only reflects the musical prowess of these young girls but also brings honor to St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, and the state of Tripura as a whole. As they step onto the national stage, the girls carry the hopes and best wishes of their school, district, and the entire eastern region.
