Bangladesh’s Eid-ul-Adha holiday affects trade, rail services with India

The week-long Eid-ul-Adha holiday in Bangladesh will affect trade and rail services between India and Bangladesh. Trade between Bangladesh and India through Hilliland Port will remain suspended for eight days from June 14 to 21 due to the Eid holiday, the general secretary of Hilliland Port Import-Export Group announced. Hilliland Port is located in Dakshin Dinajpur district of West Bengal on the India-Bangladesh border.

 

However, cross-border traffic will continue to pass through Hilliland Port immigration post during this Time, an official at Hilli immigration post said. Three interstate trains between Bangladesh and India, the Dhaka-Kolkata bound Maitri Express, the Dhaka-New Jalpaiguri bound Mitali Express and the Khulna-Kolkata bound Bandhan Express, will remain suspended during the Eid holiday.
