Faridabad, 27 December: Following the tradition for the last 17 years, Manav Rachna is all set to begin the New Year with the 17th edition of Manav Rachna Corporate Cricket Challenge. Every year, cricket teams from top corporates in Delhi-NCR participate in the series that is aimed at building sportsmanship and true bonding among the sport enthusiasts working in top corporates spread around different locations.
Initiated by the founder, Dr. O P Bhalla following his belief that sports inculcate life-long skills, camaraderie and bonding among players, the initiative is now carried forward by the torchbearers, Dr. Prashant Bhalla – President, MREI and Dr. Amit Bhalla – Vice President, MREI.
In 2024, 24 leading corporate teams from Delhi-NCR will be competing for the cup viz. Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (Gurugram), JCB India Ltd (Ballabhgarh), Tata Consultancy Service (Noida), Hero Motocorp India Ltd (Gurugram), Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd (Gurugram), Wave Infratech (Noida), SEC – RJMT Engineering (Faridabad), Sarvodaya Hospital (Faridabad), Knorr-Bremse (Palwal), Action Construction Equipment Ltd (Faridabad), Accord Hospital (Greater Faridabad), Media XI (Delhi), Manav Rachna Educational Institutions (Faridabad), NHAI (Delhi), Aaj Tak (Delhi), Indian Oil R&D (Faridabad), Sony India Ltd (Delhi), Jagran Group (Noida), BEN & GAWS (Delhi), Adidas, (Gurugram), Manitou Equipment India Ltd. (Noida), Pinelab Pvt. Ltd. (Gurugram), REPL Group (New Delhi) and Suzuki Motorcycle (Gurugram).
The Champions Trophy for the cricket challenge was unveiled in the presence of Shri Sarkar Talwar – Director Sports, MREI; Dr. Amit Bhalla – Vice President, MREI; Dr. Sanjay Srivastava – Vice Chancellor, MRIIRS and the Captains from the participating teams.
The finale match of the 16th Manav Rachna Corporate Cup Challenge was attended by Mr. Madan Lal, Former Indian Test Cricketer as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Vikrant Gupta, Senior Executive Editor Sports (Aaj Tak) & Managing Editor (Sports Tak) as the Guests of Honour, where Team JCB won the final match against Hero Motocorp India Ltd.
Dr. Amit Bhalla said, “It’s time we leave the tough times behind and move forward to beginning the year together by connecting with the child within us. It’s the power of sports that motivates us to organize these matches every year.” He further added that we often make friends for life on the sports playground .
A total of 47 matches will be played amongst the participants every weekend starting from January up to March with the finale on the 23rd of March. Group matches will be played followed by knockout matches until 2 teams triumph over the rest.
